Early Years Fest is back for 2026
Friday, January 30, 2026
Following the success of last year’s event, Early Years Fest is back for 2026 on Wednesday 25 February at Pontefract Racecourse.
The free event is focused on providing parents and carers with all the information they need to best support their child in their first five years.
The event is also open to professionals, allowing them to learn more about the local support offering for early years child development from Wakefield Council and their wider range of partners.
“After the success of this event last year, I’m excited that we are bringing Early Years Fest back for 2026.
“The day will benefit children, parents, carers and practitioners, ensuring children get the best start in life. With so much to do for everyone, we look forward to welcoming you all.”
Cllr Margaret Isherwood
Cabinet Member for Children and Young People
Parents and carers will have an opportunity to speak to professionals at different stalls and get any advice they may need. Interactive masterclasses including taster sessions of baby massage and infant feeding groups are bookable in advance.
There will be fun activities for children to enjoy including a large pop-up stay and play with a sensory area and story trails. Children will also be able to meet their favourite story and TV characters.
A free playful learning kit will be available to take home which includes different activities for parents, carers and their children to do together. The kit includes several everyday items which can be used for different adventures including a magnifying glass to do bug hunts outdoors. And lollipop sticks, paper and crayons to make puppets for a puppet show.
Early Years Fest 2026 is a free event and is open to all families and professionals in the Wakefield district. If you’re interested in this event, you can find out more here.
