Crowdfunder launches to give the gift of reading
Friday, November 07, 2025
Wakefield Imagination Library has launched a 16-day crowdfunder to raise £20,000 to gift books to hundreds of children across the district.
Since 2017, the scheme has delivered over 66,000 books to nearly 2,500 Wakefield children. Children receive one book per month, posted directly to their home. These books help develop, speech, confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of reading.
Every £26 raised funds a full year of books for one child. If the campaign reaches its £20,000 target, it will support 769 children with 12 books each over the next year.
Wakefield Imagination Library is a partnership between Wakefield Council, Spectrum Health CIC and the Dollywood Foundation.
Wakefield Imagination Library is dependent upon the generosity of local organisations and individuals. The crowdfunder runs from 7 to 23 November 2025.
Supporters are encouraged to donate, share the campaign, and become literacy champions.
