Council launches new Energy Savers scheme
Tuesday, May 07, 2024
More than 100 households in the Wakefield are set to benefit from an energy saving and stay warm scheme.
Thanks to a £200,000 investment, free cavity wall and loft insulation is available for homeowners and private rented tenants that qualify, across the Wakefield district.
Wakefield Council’s new Energy Savers scheme aims to help people save energy and enjoy a warmer home.
“We encourage anyone who is eligible to apply for this free support. Insulation can make a big difference to keeping homes warm and helps lower heating costs.”
Cllr Michael Graham
Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Growth
This scheme is targeted at certain households and to qualify residents must meet all of the following criteria:
• Have a total household NET income of £30,000 (includes all benefits) or less, once mortgage or rent payments are deducted
• Have an Energy Performance Certificate rating of D, E, F, or G
• Have total savings under £16,000
For private tenants to apply, their landlord must give approval for the work and agree to join the Council’s Responsible Landlord Scheme.
All the work is arranged through the Council’s approved contractors.
Funds will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, so residents that are interested are urged to apply now.
