Children and Young People recruitment event

Wakefield Council is hosting a recruitment day on Wednesday 30 September 2026 at The Hut in Airedale from 10:30am – 1:30pm for people interested in working with children and young people.
“Our recruitment day is a great chance for people who have been curious about working for Wakefield Council to come and find out more. You’ll hear about the work of our Children and Young People service and learn about how you might be able to get involved.
“This is one of the largest services in the Council. We’re rated good – with areas of outstanding – by Ofsted. And the jobs on offer will give you a chance to have a positive impact on the lives of children, young people, and families right across our district.”

The event will showcase a range of jobs. Including Residential Worker/ Short Breaks Worker, Casual Residential Worker, Youth Worker, Youth Engagement Worker, Early Intervention & Prevention practitioner, Passenger Transport Assistant, and Casual Clerk (Governor Services) roles. These are roles that are essential to achieving positive outcomes for local young people.
On the day, our team will be on hand to greet potential applicants with a friendly face. The team will be available to chat with attendees about what the different jobs involve, reducing barriers for potential candidates wanting to make an application. There will also be opportunities to undertake a ‘mini interview’ on the day.
