•    30 hours for eligible working parents
•    15 hours for eligible 2-year-olds
•    tax-free childcare and universal credit childcare
•    wraparound childcare and free breakfast clubs coming soon

Check what you’re entitled to using the Childcare Choices eligibility checker.

Why early education matters

Early years education and formal childcare help children grow socially, emotionally, and cognitively. Giving them the best start in life. Trained professionals provide a safe, nurturing environment that complements learning at home and prepares children for school.

How to apply

To use your funded hours from 1 September, you must:

  1. Apply by 31 August at GOV.UK
  2. Get your code – this is your unique reference that proves your eligibility
  3. Give the code to your childcare provider before your child starts

You’ll need to reconfirm your details every 3 months to keep receiving support. Set a reminder so you don’t miss out!
