Ask the Council Leader and Deputy Leader
Wednesday, October 28, 2026
Wakefield Council is inviting residents and businesses to put their questions to the Council's leadership team.
Cllr Karl Johnson, Leader of the Council, and Cllr John Thomas, Deputy Leader, will answer questions from the public in a video Q&A this December.
"We want to hear what matters most to you and your community, to understand what's working well, and hear more about what we can improve.
“When we launched our first video Q&A in June it was a huge success, with 23,000 people tuning in. We want to keep hearing your views. So, send in your questions about the local issues that matter most to you.”
Cllr Karl Johnson
Leader of Wakefield Council
"Listening to the communities affected by important decisions is at the heart of all good organisations. We’re changing the Council so that it’s much more responsive and does more to target our resources where they will make the biggest difference to your life.
“Your views are at the heart of how we’re doing that. We’re encouraging residents and business owners to send in questions. We’ll answer as many as we can, but even the ones we don’t get around to will help inform the Council’s priorities."
Cllr John Thomas
Deputy Leader of Wakefield Council
Anyone living in the district is encouraged to take part by submitting a question via email to internet@wakefield.gov.uk by 9am on Friday 6 November.
People are asked to include their name and address to confirm residency when submitting a question. This information will not be shared publicly.
The Leader and Deputy Leader will then respond to selected questions with a Q&A video shared across the Council's social media channels in December.
