Agbrigg play area gets a fresh new look
Wednesday, April 29, 2026
Wakefield Council has confirmed that works to revamp Agbrigg park have now finished. The park has been refreshed with new play equipment, surfacing and benches. The works have created an attractive play space for families to enjoy and opportunities for children to play and socialise.
“We know how important the park is to local families, and we’re pleased to see it transformed into a space where children of all ages can enjoy themselves. The play equipment has been carefully chosen to allow a range of movements, such as climbing, swinging and gliding. So that children can stay active and have fun.”

The upgraded park has two multi play units, one for older children and one for toddlers. Along with a flywheel roundabout, a new swing set, a zipline and a large Turtle seat basket swing. There is a variety of play panels encouraging imaginative and intellectual play, the springies have open fronts shaped to let children get on and off themselves.
Across from the play area, plans are also being made to upgrade the five-a-side kickabout to a multi-use game area (MUGA). Proposed improvements include artificial grass, cricket wickets and basketball hoops.
The Council’s creating places where nature can flourish, families can connect, and children can thrive. Further play area improvements are now being planned in Castleford and Ossett.
