Thursday, June 18, 2026
A man from Castleford has been given a Criminal Behaviour Order for his persistent anti-social behaviour.
The joint action was taken by Wakefield Council and West Yorkshire Police.
Darryl Webster, aged 26, of Mallard Road, Castleford, was given a two-year order at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on 8 June 2026.
The order remains in place until midnight on 07 June 2028. If Mr Webster breaks the terms, he risks arrest and a custodial sentence. He also received a 9 month non- residential drug Rehabilitation Order.
Mr Webster committed 20 offences of shoplifting. He also committed one public order offence when he bared his bottom to staff who confronted him as he stole items from Sainsburys Store, Smawthorne Lane, Castleford.
“We won’t tolerate anti-social behaviour in our communities, and we’re pleased that the Court has sent a strong message by granting this Criminal Behaviour Order.
“Everyone should feel safe where they live. We will continue to work with police and other partners to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.”
Cllr Rebecca Webster
Cabinet Member for Safer Stronger Communities
Inspector Glen Costello, of Wakefield East Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I welcome this Criminal Behaviour Order. We know the huge impact shoplifting can have on retailers in our town centres.
“The use of these orders is an example of the work we are doing to protect our communities and take action against those who cause harm through criminal and anti-social behaviour.”
Under the terms of the order Mr Webster must leave any retail premises in the Wakefield district if asked by staff. He is also banned from entering the following locations in Castleford, including their car parks and forecourts:
• Sainsburys Store, Smawthorne Lane
• J&M Wines Beancroft Road
• Greggs, Albion Street and Carlton Street.
