Streethouse Junior, Infant and Nursery School - New SEN Unit

Proposal to establish a new Special Educational Needs (SEN) unit at Streethouse Junior, Infant and Nursery School.

The Proposal

To establish a new SEN Unit at Streethouse Junior, Infant and Nursery School on a permanent basis from September 2026. This will provide 12 places for Key Stage 2 children with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and will support Wakefield Council to fulfil its statutory duty.

The Process

The consultation is the first stage of the process and seeks to explain how the proposal will progress by:

• answering any stakeholder questions
• gathering stakeholder comments and views 

Submitting Comments on the Proposal

The consultation period will run from 9am on Monday 3 November 2025 until 5pm on Sunday 16 November 2025 via an online questionnaire.

Council’s Cabinet will review the feedback received in December 2025. It is important that we receive as much feedback as possible.
