Wakefield Futures Report
The Wakefield Futures Commission has examined Wakefield's employment and skills offering. This work has determined a new approach to training and education in Wakefield. This will help attract more great, high-skilled jobs and people. Using innovation and collaboration to create opportunities for the future.
Chaired by Professor Sir Chris Husbands, the Commission’s final report sets out a bold plan to:
- drive the creation of thousands of high-skilled jobs, supporting inclusive economic growth and and long term workforce development
- close Wakefield’s productivity gap (worth over £533 million a year)
- create thousands of high-skill jobs across a range of sectors
- create a new collaborative civic-hub named the Wakefield Futures Centre
The report launched at Wakefield Exchange on 10 September and is welcomed by local leaders.
As a UNESCO Learning City, Wakefield is already part of a global network committed to lifelong learning and is ready to do more.
