Referendum Result

The result of the referendum held on 3 December was a resounding YES to Wakefield Metropolitan District Council using the Neighbourhood Plan for Walton Neighbourhood Area to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area.

Voters were asked "Do you want Wakefield Metropolitan District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Walton Neighbourhood Area to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"

Number of votes cast in favour of a 'Yes': 849 (95.39%)
Number of votes cast in favour of a 'No' (4.38%)
Spoilt papers: 2
Turnout: 34.11(%)

 

On Thursday 3 December 2015 a referendum will be held relating to the adoption of the Walton Neighbourhood Plan. Details of the polling stations and their opening times will be on the polling card.

The people who will be able to vote in the referendum will generally be those who live in the parish of Walton and who are registered to vote. The deadline for registering to vote in the referendum is Tuesday 17 November 2015.

If you are eligible to vote you will receive a ballot paper and will be asked to vote ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to the following question:

“Do you want Wakefield Metropolitan District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Walton Neighbourhood Area to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”

A cross (X) should be placed in either the ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ box on your ballot paper. Put a cross in only one box or your vote will not be counted.

If more people vote ‘yes’ than ‘no’ in this referendum, then we will use the neighbourhood plan to help it decide planning applications as part of the district’s development plan.
