Welcome to Wakefield Imagination Library
Bring books, joy and learning to children across Wakefield District
Wakefield Imaginaton Library is a partnership between Wakefield Council, Spectrum Community Health CIC, and the Dollywood Foundation as part of the global Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library network.
We gift free, high-quality books every month to registered children from birth to age five, sent directly to their home. These books help children develop language, confidence, curiosity, and a love of reading, bringing families closer together.

Best of all, it's completely free for families.
Help us bring books, joy and learning to children who need it the most.
Since 2017, we've delivered over 66,000 books to nearly 2,500 children across Wakefield’s most disadvantaged areas. Wakefield has some of the highest levels of deprivation in the country and by targeting these communities, we’re improving life chances, one child at a time. Read more about our achievements here.
Through improving the literacy of children in Wakefield we are building the future outlook of our communities and organisations.
Wakefield Imagination Library relies on the kindness of donors like you to continue to make a difference.
Just £26 supports one child for a full year.
Donations to the Wakefield Imagination Library are processed by the Dollywood Foundation. If you're a UK taxpayer, the Dollywood Foundation can claim Gift Aid on your contribution, allowing your donation to go even further.
"The Imagination Library is a shining example of what partnership can achieve. At Spectrum CIC, we take pride in our commitment to social value and our service to local communities. Together with the Dollywood Foundation and Wakefield Council, we’re giving children the gift of stories, imagination, and early learning. We know how vital those early years are in shaping a child’s future — which is why we’re proud to support this initiative. But to keep this magic alive and growing, we need our community’s support. Every donation helps us reach more families and create brighter futures — one book at a time."
