Introducing the Deputy Mayor
The Deputy Mayor 2025/26 Councillor Lynn Masterman

Lynn was first elected to Wakefield Council in 2016 representing Ossett Ward and subsequently elected to represent Stanley & Outwood Ward in 2022.
Within the Council she has previously been a member of the Licencing Committee, Adult Services and Health and Communities Scrutiny Committees, Deputy Portfolio Holder for Culture, Leisure and Sport and more recently she was Deputy Chair of the West Yorkshire Police and Crime Panel. She also serves on the Wakefield Metropolitan Bands Management Committee and the Waste Recycling Group.
She is also an active member of Normanton Town Council since 2014 with a break whilst she cared for her mother from 2021 to 2023. She currently sits on the Alice Bacon Committee – helping to arrange events for the elderly in the Town Council Ward. She has also previously served on the Property Committee and the Planning, Highways and Environment Committees.
Outside her Council duties Lynn is a Renewable Energy and Engineering Trading Underwriter with the insurer Aviva and in her spare time enjoys reading, cooking and attending exercise classes when there is time!
Lynn and Lee married in 1995, and they have 2 sons and 2 grandchildren. Lee will be the Deputy Mayor’s Consort, and they look forward to supporting the Mayor and Consort during their Mayoral year.
