There are events for all ages and for families to enjoy together, look out for:

  • Wii challenges
  • animal events

By attending some of these activities you will be able to earn Children’s University stamps, see the Children’s University website for details of scheme.

Bookstart Storytimes

Storytimes are an ideal opportunity for you and your child to enjoy books with other children, parents, and carers. Sharing books with babies and toddlers is a great way to help them learn about their world.

Children of all ages are welcome and can enjoy the nursery rhymes and stories.

Bookstart Bear Club

A fantastic free library joining incentive for children age 0-4 years

Children receive a Bookstart Bear Club passport and collect paw print stamps each time they return books, attend a Bookstart Storytime event or share a story in the library

For every six paw print stamps each child collects, members will receive a Bookstart Bear Club certificate – there are 10 in total to collect including a special Golden Certificate.

Summer Reading Challenge

Read six books during the summer holiday!

  • Collect prizes and stickers
  • Win a medal
  • Receive a certificate
  • Participate in the Reading Challenge activities
  • Enjoy the competitions and games on the Summer Reading Challenge website
  • Attend a presentation event in a library or school

Reading Groups

We have teenage and family reader groups in many of our libraries visit our blog or check out the library events and activities page for details of the current groups.
