Located 7 miles south-east of Wakefield, Fitzwilliam Country Park features open grassland, woodland, and ponds.

Nature Conservation

Formerly a drift mine, the area was turned into a country park in 1991. The park has open spaces, woodland, grassy areas, and ponds, and is managed to protect and improve the habitats for wildlife.

Water voles have been seen on the park and visitors can spot Skylarks, Buzzards, and Meadow Pipits. The park is also known for its variety of wildflowers and dragonflies.
