If you're looking to start, grow or run your own business, visit your Business and Intellectual Property Centre at Wakefield Library. More information on the support we offer can be found on the BIPC Local site.

Computers, internet access and Wi-Fi

All our libraries have free Wi-Fi.

All our libraries provide customers with two free hours of access to library computers.

Our computers have free internet access and each computer has the following software programmes installed as standard:

  • Microsoft Office Packages:
    • Publisher
    • Word (word processing)
    • Excel (spreadsheets)
    • Picture manager
    • PowerPoint
    • Access (databases)
  • Accessories including; calculator, paint and magnifier
  • Internet Explorer
  • Adobe reader
  • Windows Media Player
  • Windows Photo Viewer

Online basics - free computer courses

We offer free computer advice sessions at Normanton and Pontefract Libraries.

These sessions are a great way for you to get started online. They will help you to gain the skills and confidence you need to start using computers and the internet.
