Introducing the Deputy Mayor
Darren has been serving as a representative for Horbury & South Ossett on Wakefield Council since May 2016.
He is known for his strong support of community groups throughout the Ward. Within the Council Darren has been a Deputy Cabinet Member and then Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Growth. In this position he supported the Leader of the Council and the wider Cabinet.
Since the beginning of 2023 Darren has returned to the back bench of the Council to spend more time in the Community he represents.
Darren actively supports many community groups in Horbury & South Ossett.
These include:
- The Friends of Horbury's Park
- Friends of Illingworth Park
- Horbury Civic Society
- Horbury Village Partnership
- Pride in Horbury Bridge
- The Community Litter Pickers
- Horbury Craft & Street Fayre
He also holds the position of Vice President of the Horbury, Sitlington, and Ossett Royal British Legion, which he takes great pride in.
In the little spare time Darren has he is an avid DIYer. He is interested all things technological and is a great television viewer and radio listener.
Darren has been married to Peter Davis since June 2011. Peter will be supporting Darren during his Mayoral term, along with other Consorts of the Occasion. This includes many from community groups within Horbury and South Ossett.
