Monday, May 20, 2024

Wakefield Council have opened their latest display at the South Elmsall Library Museum Hub, in partnership with Production Park.

‘Production Park: Where live industry lives’ celebrates over 25 years of innovation at the live events campus in South Kirkby.

The display is part of Our Year - Wakefield District 2024. It’s a year-long programme of breathtaking spectacles, unique festivals, major events, and community-led activities that celebrate all the Wakefield district has to offer.

“We’re very proud that Production Park has made its home in South Kirkby. It’s great to see this local success story celebrated in the new museum display and preserved in the collection for future generations.

“I hope lots of people will enjoy finding out about the amazing work that takes places at Production Park and the opportunities for amazing careers in the live events industry that are right on their doorstep.

“I look forward to continuing to work with Production Park in the future to give local residents more chances to explore all the incredible work that goes on there.”

Lee Brooks, CEO & Founder Production Park, said: “We are really proud of our 25 years in South Kirkby and the fantastic clients we have hosted here over that period. It’s especially pleasing to see the film showcase the incredibly talented women who work on the park and the contribution they continue to make towards our success.”

Production Park is home to creative businesses at the cutting edge of the live events industry. The park develops everything from stage shows and stadium tours to virtual reality and eSports. It welcomes some of the biggest names from the world of entertainment. The team at South Kirkby design and manufacture live events that are broadcast, streamed and staged across the globe.

The new display features exciting objects kindly lent by the companies based at Production Park. The intriguing items showcase the craftsmanship of the park’s highly skilled team and reveal links to their superstar clients.

A 3D printed model cat made using the latest technology at Production Park’s XPLOR facility is a scale reproduction of scenery made for Katy Perry’s 2014 BRIT Awards performance. Visitors can also admire a golden model of Sam Smith’s Gloria. TAIT Wakefield produced a stunning 65-foot-long figure that was the glittering backdrop to Smith’s 2023 tour. The scale model was gifted as a thank you to the people and organisations who helped produced the tour. It is displayed alongside a very special box of Yorkshire Tea, personalised in honour of Hugh Jackman’s five-week stay at Production Park in 2019.

An exclusive new short film accompanies the display. ‘Big Ambitions: Women @ Production Park’ by Nick Singleton shines a light on the inspiring women who work and study at Production Park and are making their mark on this once male-dominated industry.
Interviews and photographs from the project will also be added to the permanent collection.

‘Production Park: Where live industry lives’ is open now and runs until April 2026.
