Have your say on new Biodiversity Net Gain planning guidance document

Thursday, May 30, 2024

We want your views on new planning guidance for developers about how to improve the natural environment following development.

The Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) will ensure new development meets the requirements of national and local planning policy and the legal requirements of the Environment Act 2021.

The guidance includes the information needed for a planning application, the local approach to improving biodiversity following development and the monitoring requirements.

The consultation will take place for 4 weeks from Thursday 30 May until 5pm Wednesday 26 June 2024.

Information can be viewed, and comments made online via the Council’s Consultation Portal: https://consult.wakefield.gov.uk

All the information and the comment forms are also available to view and download from the Council’s website: https://www.wakefield.gov.uk/planningpolicyconsult

You can also find information at the main libraries across the district and at the Customer Access Point, Wakefield One, Burton Street, Wakefield. Please check opening times before visiting.

Comments submitted will inform the final version of the SPD, which is expected to be adopted by the Council in autumn 2024.
