Health walks

Sun Lane leisure banner

As adults we should be aiming to be physically active for a minimum 150 mins per week. Children should be active for an hour every day.

Walking is one of the easiest ways to build activity into your life. For the maximum health benefits try to walk at a brisk pace (as if late for an appointment) so your heart rate increases, you feel warmer but are still able to hold a conversation.

One of the easiest ways to be active at the recommended levels is to walk for at least 30mins 5 times per week.

Walking can help you to;

  • Feel better and have more energy
  • Reduce stress and sleep better
  • Reduce blood pressure and keep your heart healthy
  • Less chance of developing certain diseases such as cancer, type 2 diabetes and heart disease
  • Help manage your weight

Our Health walks are regular short walks that last between 20 minutes to 90 minutes and are aimed at people of all abilities and fitness levels. Each walk is led by at least one trained walk leader.

Health walks are free, you don't need any fancy walking gear, just sensible footwear and clothing suited to the weather conditions. All walks are non-smoking and please check before bringing along dogs.

ALL walks are FREE but you must register before attending your first walk. This can be done at the bottom of the page.
