Following the recent announcement from the government on COVID-19, our parks remain open for residents to enjoy open spaces but other amenities are closed until further notice.
Orienteering is a challenging outdoor adventure sport that exercises both the mind and the body. The aim is to navigate between control points marked on an orienteering map and decide the best route to complete the course in the quickest time.
This is a sport for the whole family, young and old, as you can run, walk or jog the course and progress at your own speed.
Newmillerdam Country Park
This permanent orienteering course has been developed in the woodlands to give you a chance to try a non-competitive form of this exciting sport, using your map reading skills to navigate around a series of markers.
Maps (hard copies) are available from the visitor centre at Anglers Country Park for a small contribution.
The local club
East Pennine Orienteering Club organise regular events to suit all ability levels.
