Active Imaginations is an initiative to help parents and carers come up with ways for 2 to 4-year olds to get a healthy amount of physical activity is being launched in Wakefield
Wakefield Council has partnered with Public Health England, The Yorkshire and Humber Association of Directors of Public Health to support and enable parents to increase physical activity for toddlers and preschoolers.
Parents and children in Wakefield will be amongst the first in Yorkshire and the Humber to try this range of online resources that help parents to be active with their children at no or low cost. Active Imaginations allows everyone to take part in fun games and activities which can be done in a range of spaces to suit everybody. These activities build on natural child development and aim to encourage more active and sports movement through play.
The initiative supports the Chief Medical Officer Guidelines that outline children of pre-school age who are capable of walking unaided should be physically active for at least 180 minutes per day.
