2020/2021 school calendar
Most schools in the Wakefield District have the same term and holiday dates.
These dates are set and agreed by the Council.
However some Voluntary aided schools and academies do set their own term and holiday dates.
The 2019/20 school calendar has been amended to reflect the government’s decision to change the May Day Bank Holiday from Monday 4 May 2020 to Friday 8 May 2020.
Schools setting their own dates
Voluntary-aided schools and academies can set their own term and holiday dates. If your child attends one of these types of school, you should enquire with the school directly to check their dates.
INSET (teacher-training) days
Each school is allowed to set five INSET days each year. These are days on which teachers attend school for training and other tasks, but children do not attend. The dates of INSET days are agreed by the governing body of the school. Your child's school will let you know what these dates are, once they have been set.
Please note that the 2021/22 school calendar is DRAFT ONLY and has not been approved by Wakefield Council.
A decision will be made in Spring 2020 for the 2021/22 school calendar.
