How to join a class

The Adult Education Service is still here and has continued to support over 550 of our residents to complete their learning and are now supporting them to take their qualifications and assessments.

Please take a look through our online course directory to see if there are any courses of interest to you. The new brochure will be delivered to your homes in early September but our courses do fill up very quickly, so beat the rush – download the 2020 Course Guide and contact us now!

We are working hard to create new ways to deliver learning as we move into our next academic year as well as creating safe learning environments for you.

Although we are still closed to the public at the moment, we are taking enrolments for the Autumn Term.  We are continually taking advice from Government and Wakefield Council and are looking to ensure we are COVID-safe from September 2020 to enable our residents to come back to classes with confidence.

If you are or have been a furloughed worker or unemployed, please browse our new provision or contact us for advice. We are available to support you in finding the right course to help you to enhance your existing skills or for you to learn new ones.

We will be offering a broad range of courses again from September 2020 so please check out our new brochure and download the 2020 Course Guide  or give us a call on 01924 303302 or email at for more details

Cancellation and refunds

No refunds will be given after the first two weeks of term, unless the course is cancelled and we cannot offer a reasonable alternative. Requests for refunds should be made in writing to the Service Manager, Adult Education at the Manygates Education Centre. Please state reasons and enclose your receipts.

Where a single class is cancelled for reasons beyond our control an additional class will be scheduled to make up for the lost class.

Wakefield Council reserve the right to close or cancel courses due to the unavailability of tutors, facilities or insufficient enrolments. If we cancel your course, your fee will be refunded in full.

Our staff are available to take your calls and emails to enable you to receive the information you need to enrol.  Please be patient as we are experiencing high demand at the moment.
