The Housing Advice Team offer advice and advocacy on housing and housing related problems
Our areas of work include dealing with:
We offer representation in the County Court for mortgage and rent arrears and can represent clients at tribunal with Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support appeals.
We also participate twice monthly in a Duty Advocacy Scheme for mortgage arrears at the Wakefield Civil Justice Centre.
When you can see us
We are only able to interview clients by appointment in Wakefield. However, if the matter is urgent, where a Warrant of Possession is due to be enforced, or the service user is being harassed or threatened by a landlord, we will arrange to see them as soon as it is practical to do so. Home visits may be possible in exceptional circumstances.

These can be made on reception at Queens House or by calling the team direct. The team will also see service users who are being harassed or threatened with unlawful eviction by their landlords or where interventions could prevent homelessness.
