Hiring event space

We manage a number of event spaces in Wakefield city centre. These spaces are available to hire for the purpose of company and commercial promotion, event promotion and information exchange.

If you would like to apply to hire a space, please get in touch using the 'Contact Us' details or use the application form.

Applications for consent must be made no later than eight weeks before the date of the event and you must supply the following additional documents with your application:

  • A risk assessment covering the entire event/activity
  • Relevant documentation indemnifying the Council to a minimum value of £5million
  • Images of display materials and any leaflets you intend to use at your event

If you are successful in obtaining an event consent you may hand out promotional leaflets within the confines of the allotted space. Otherwise, it is an offence to distribute free printed matter (leaflets, flyers etc.) within Wakefield city centre without consent. Offenders could face a fine of up to £2,500. Details of how to obtain consent are available on our Leafleting page.

If you wish to hold a street collection then approval must be sought from our Licensing Service. A separate form for this purpose is available on our Charitable collections page. We will need to determine if you are fit and proper to conduct such an activity.
