Gigabit broadband voucher scheme
Wakefield Gigabit Voucher Scheme
The Gigabit Voucher Scheme helps to assist businesses and residents of the Wakefield district gain access to higher speed broadband - this is currently limited due to lack of investment and other financial barriers.
Gigabit vouchers will be available to both SME businesses and residents, and will help to fund the installation of high speed broadband into both commercial and residential property. This means that the Wakefield district – overtime - will have increased gigabit capable coverage.
The government aim to see fifteen million premises connected to full-fibre broadband by 2025. The Gigabit Voucher Scheme will help to achieve this target.
The funding of the voucher scheme is from the ‘Getting Building Fund’, which is being supported by Minstry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and aims to make higher speed broadband financially accessible to businesses and local residents of the Wakefield district – particularly in rural areas.
