COVID-19 – CHANGES TO THE EASTERN AREA CORONER'S SERVICE
In order to protect the public we serve and our staff, we have had to adjust how we provide a service to you. In the majority of instances, service delivery will not be affected. If you are a member of the family or an interested party in an Inquest which was cancelled or/is to be scheduled for hearing a member of our team will be contacting you to discuss your options.
We can confirm that the Court is now certified as COVID-19 secure. This means that we have put in place all reasonable steps to ensure the safety of our visitors and our staff. This includes strict limits on the number of people in the Court’s at any one time and the staff accommodation.
If you are attending Court for an inquest please read the attached document ‘Appendix ‘A’ - Guidance for Attendance at HM Coroners Court, Wakefield’. Our staff will be on hand to greet you and explain how the inquest will run.
In order to allow the Coroner's Team to continue to support you, we would ask that where possible any queries you have are emailed to HMCoroner@Wakefield.gov.uk
We will continue to provide essential support to the families of bereaved persons.
