The national registration system that is used to register Births, Deaths and Marriages to produce copy certificates is currently experiencing technical issues. 

Due to these issues all registrations are being processed manually.

We apologies for any delay or inconvenience this may cause you.

We are working hard to process your requests as quickly as possible and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

Access to the Registration Service is by appointment only. If you are unable to access our services via our online forms or by telephone then please email wakefieldregistrars@wakefield.gov.uk or telephone us 0345 4 852 888 to arrange an appointment. If you attend the office without an appointment it is unlikely we will be able to assist you. Our phone lines are very busy at the moment, if you have already left a voicemail within the last 48hrs we will call you back from a withheld number, please do not leave another message.

Opening times

  • Monday - Friday 9am - 4.30pm
  • Saturday 9am - 12.30pm
  • The office is also closed once every 6 weeks on a Wednesday for staff training between 12pm and 2:30pm

Out of hours services

There are services available for urgent marriages and urgent burial arrangements outside of normal working hours.

Emergency out-of-hours service - A service is available for anyone who needs to make urgent burial arrangements or requires documentation to remove a body out of England. This service is available between 9am and 10am each Sunday and Bank Holiday and can be accessed by contacting our Contact Centre on 0345 8 506 506.
