Council to coordinate support from local businesses
Wakefield Council is coordinating offers of support from businesses and local organisations, to make sure that help reaches those most in need during the coronavirus outbreak.
The Council has now launched a dedicated phone line for businesses wishing to pledge help and support to local residents during the crisis.
Businesses and organisations can contact the Council by calling 01924 306281, Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Cllr Denise Jeffery, Leader of Wakefield Council, said: “We are always here to provide support to the most vulnerable and in this unprecedented time, people need our support now more than ever.
“The response from local businesses wanting to offer help and support has been fantastic. Thank you so much to those who are already supporting us to provide help to those that are vulnerable and most in need at this challenging time.
“We now have a single point of contact for those businesses wishing to get in touch. This is helping to coordinate the response in our local communities, to ensure that help reaches those who are most in need. This also compliments the community support we already have in place.”
Residents wishing to volunteer are asked to view current opportunities and register their interest at volunteerwakefield.org
