Seaside beach day is a hit in Knottingley
The seaside came to Knottingley with hundreds of people joining in the community event at Kellingley Social Club.
Visitors enjoyed music, entertainment, fun fair rides, family games, free workshop and face painting along with great food and drink throughout Saturday.
Children were also able to play on the big beach with buckets and spades.
Cllr Denise Jeffery, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Regeneration at Wakefield Council, said: "I'm so pleased that over 800 people of all ages came to this community event which had entertainment for all the family to enjoy."
Kellingley Social Club, Rainbow Entertainment and Wakefield Council worked in partnership to bring the seaside event to Knottingley with vendors donating part of their takings on the day to support two local Knottingley charities.
The summer seaside event also kicked off Wakefield Council's consultation asking local residents to give their views on the future of Knottingley and surrounding towns and areas in the district.
Earlier in the year councillors agreed to set up a plan to guide priorities and support regeneration in the area.
With over 200 questionnaires completed on the day and 300 more taken away to complete, residents can still have their say on the future vision of Knottingley by visiting www.wakefield.gov.uk/Knottingleyseaside until 30 September.
