The Tour involves hundreds of school children riding in a 21 day long relay throughout Yorkshire, which started on June 5 in Pickering and finishes on July 3 in Leeds.
The event comes to Wakefield on Tuesday 19 June through to Thursday 21 June and will see 154 pupils from 19 local schools taking part. Each school will cycle with the baton up to five miles to their neighbouring school.
Cllr Jacquie Speight, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport at Wakefield Council, said: "I'm sure this will once again be a fantastic event, which reflects how cycling is growing in popularity.
"Events such as the Tour de Yorkshire are encouraging people to take up the sport. It's great that so many young people from our district are getting involved and contributing to this huge team effort."
