New Service Director for Children’s Social Care starts in August
A new Service Director for Children’s Social Care has been appointed to help drive the transformation of Wakefield Council’s children’s social care.
Vicky Schofield, is an experienced head of service and has worked at all levels across the whole range of statutory children’s functions. Currently leading the First Response Service at Rotherham Council, she is part of the team that took Rotherham’s children’s services from inadequate to good. Vicky has also worked at Barnsley and Doncaster councils and at Wakefield Council from 2005 - 2010.
Commenting on her appointment, Wakefield Council’s Corporate Director for Children and Young People, Beate Wagner said: “Vicky has excellent insight and experience at every level of children’s social care services. She has successfully led a range of services through the early and later stages of the transformation journey and has clearly demonstrated her ability to deliver rapid improvement.
“I look forward to working with Vicky as we continue to drive forward with our transformation action plan to ensure all our children are happy, healthy and safe.”
Vicky Schofield said: “I am delighted to be returning to Wakefield and excited to be part of a council so clearly ambitious for its young people to reach their full potential.”
She will take up the new post on 7 August.
