A new home insulation scheme that will help to keep more houses warm next winter has been launched by Wakefield Council.

The BeWarm Wakefield scheme has grants available to help cover the cost of installing loft and cavity wall insulation.

Some households may qualify for free insulation regardless of their circumstances, and residents are being urged to apply.

Cllr Denise Jeffery, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Regeneration at Wakefield Council, said: “Although the weather has turned warmer, now is a great time to start thinking ahead and to start planning for next winter.

“Having good insulation can make a big a difference in keeping homes warm and helping to manage heating bills in the colder months.”

The scheme is part of the Council’s drive to help residents save energy and money, and reduce fuel poverty.

The insulation work will be delivered by the Council’s approved Better Homes Yorkshire insulation partner, A&M Energy Solutions. BeWarm Wakefield is the only Council endorsed loft and cavity wall insulation scheme in the Wakefield district.

The Council will be sending out leaflets and A&M will be visiting areas of the district over the coming weeks to promote BeWarm but residents can apply now by calling 0113 2860 641 or by emailing

Approval is subject to a survey and terms and conditions apply.
