Have your say on proposed changes to Castleford Market
Wakefield Council is
looking to make improvements to Castleford Market and is asking shoppers,
traders and local businesses for their views.
The Council is consulting on proposed changes to the market place, following
concerns raised by local traders and businesses of the look of vacant stalls
and that the current layout is restrictive for shoppers and vehicle access.
The Council has developed some proposals to make improvements to the market
place, including a new stall layout in a single line, moving to gazebo style
stalls and implementing a policy to restrict stall holders from increasing the
stall size.
Cllr Denise Jeffery,
Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Regeneration, said:
“Following feedback from market traders, we’d like to look at making some
improvements to Castleford Market to make it an even better place to shop and
work. Please take part in the consultation to let us know your thoughts on the
proposals.”
People can check out the proposals, and have their say, at www.wakefield.gov.uk/casmarket
until Friday 9 March. Alternatively, questionnaires can be completed at
Castleford Market Hall and on the consultation stall at Castleford outdoor
market.
