The district’s Special Olympics athletes welcomed to Town Hall
Athletes who represented the district in the Special Olympics were praised for their achievements and hard work at an event at Wakefield Town Hall.
Reception for district athletes who competed in Special Olympics
A reception was held to recognise the contribution of the dedicated athletes, coaches and volunteers who took part in the Special Olympics Great Britain National Summer Games in Sheffield this summer.
It was the country's largest multi-sports event for athletes with intellectual disabilities, held in 2017. Around 2,600 athletes with intellectual disabilities of all ages and abilities came together from across the country to compete in events including swimming, athletics, judo and gymnastics.
