People came together in Wakefield (on Friday) to pay their respects to those who lost
their lives and were injured in the Nice attack.
The tragic news of the 84
deaths, at the Bastille celebrations in France on Thursday deeply moved many
people.
Cllr Peter Box CBE Leader of
Wakefield Council said: “Our thoughts and sincere sympathies are with the
people of France who have been affected by yet another terrible tragedy.
“This was an appalling attack
and on behalf of the people of Wakefield I would like
to offer our sincere condolences to the families of the people who died, and
our prayers for those who were injured.”
The Mayor, Cllr Harry Ellis, lead a one minute silence on Friday at 11am at the War Memorial,
opposite County Hall to show support for those affected by this tragic event. It was attended by members of the public and council staff.
