Wakefield Council provides additional financial support for businesses
Wakefield Council has begun the distribution of the Local Restrictions Support Grant to businesses that are mandated to close under the current national lockdown restrictions. The Council has already paid £14.5million to over 2,000 businesses across the district.
Eligible businesses, who have previously received a grant payment for the November 2020 period of national restrictions, will automatically receive their payment and top-up payment. These businesses do not need to take any action.
If business owners have not already applied, and have not received a payment for the November national restrictions, but are eligible, they should apply for the Local Restrictions Support Grant at: www.wakefieldfirst.com/covid-19/.
Cllr Darren Byford, Wakefield Council's Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Regeneration, said: "We are thrilled to be able to give our businesses this much-needed, additional financial support. We understand that the third national lockdown has put a further strain on many businesses and the extra financial support will be welcomed by many across the district who have had to close their businesses.
"We aim to provide as much support as possible to our local businesses and residents, and we are delighted that we have made great progress this week with distributing the grants. The national restrictions are not easy but are critical if we are to reduce the spread of the virus this winter. By working together, we will get through this."
