Wakefield district companies named in Yorkshire Top 500
Thirty-two Wakefield companies have been named among the Top 500 in Yorkshire by Insider magazine. The companies, located in Castleford, Knottingley, Normanton, Ossett, Pontefract and Wakefield reported a combined gross turnover of over £4billion.
TEVA UK in Castleford topped the list of companies in the district for the highest turnover of £551.4million.
Card Factory in Wakefield topped the list for the highest pre-tax profit with £66.6million while Ultimate Furniture Systems had the highest profit margin in the district of 22.3%.
Cllr Denise Jeffery, Leader of Wakefield Council, said: "It is great to see that the Wakefield district is providing the right conditions for businesses to thrive and succeed.
"The Top 500 report demonstrates that businesses in the district are continuing to grow. At the Council, we pride ourselves in being 'open for business' and provide policies to help companies innovate and grow. Our relationship with businesses is stronger than ever and we have supported businesses throughout the outbreak. Our relationship with business will continue to grow as we work in partnership to restart and grow our economy in the future."
Of the 32 companies, 11 operate in Wakefield, eight in Pontefract, five in Castleford, four in Normanton, two in Ossett and two in Knottingley.
