Road marking outside Pinderfields

Wakefield Council has painted ‘thank you NHS’ rainbow road markings outside the district’s hospitals to applaud the outstanding work of the NHS and all other key workers during the coronavirus outbreak.

The road markings welcome NHS workers at Bar Lane roundabout and Aberford Road outside Pinderfields Hospital and more will be painted on Friarwood Lane at Pontefract Hospital next week, in a hope to brighten up their day to and from work.

Cllr Matthew Morley, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning and Highways, said: “I hope this small gesture puts a smile on the face of NHS staff who work at both hospitals and in acknowledgement of all other key workers across the district.

“It is a token of our appreciation for all of their incredible work and sacrifice. When the rest of us are being told to stay at home, they are being asked to work on the frontline to keep us all safe and keep services running.

“Please help to support our NHS by staying at home and saving lives.”
