Wakefield district companies scoop awards
Two Wakefield district companies have been recognised at Insider magazine's Growth 100 Awards.
The awards honour businesses from across the region which are achieving sustained rapid growth.
OE Electrics Ltd, based at Calder Park, took the Export Award and Production Park Ltd in South Kirkby scooped the Gold Award.
Cllr Denise Jeffery, Wakefield Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Growth, said: "It is great news to see businesses thriving in the Wakefield district.
"We would like to congratulate OE Electrics and Production Park for their continuing success and it is fantastic to see their hard work recognised.
"We hope that their success can encourage other companies to make Wakefield their home."
Forty-seven per cent of OE Electric's turnover is in overseas sales. In order to improve its reach into Europe, it created a site near Cologne to work closely with distributors in Germany, France, Poland and Holland. Its new 'click and connect' modular system, QikFit, allows distributors and customers to design and assemble their own units.
This award win follows a Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade.
Production Park is the only place on earth where technically-challenging live productions is fed back into a university-accredited educational ecosystem of the UK's only Live Events Production University Centre, Backstage Academy. From the pre-visualisation of set designs and theatrical prop making through to sports structures, large-scale sculptures and the construction of multimillion-pound concert touring stage sets.
The location is continuing investment with an Innovation Centre focused on developing technologies.
