Wakefield launches new People’s Panel for residents
Wakefield Council is looking for residents to join the first ever People's Panel to help shape services and develop ideas.
The group of residents who make up the People's Panel will be asked to take part in online surveys or polls, have face to face opportunities to share their thoughts and also get the chance to test out and develop new ideas.
There will be opportunities to get involved in other activities like focus groups in order to get more detailed thoughts on a certain topic. The People's Panel may also be asked to test things out, such as new features on the Council website.
The Council will invite different people to different things and there is no requirement to take part in everything, although their participation is always appreciated.
Wakefield residents, aged 18 years and over, are able to join. No special experience or expertise is required – people just need to be willing and interested in sharing their views. The People's Panel will reflect the diversity of the district and welcomes people from all backgrounds.
Cllr Peter Box CBE, Leader of Wakefield Council
Cllr Peter Box CBE, Leader of Wakefield Council, said: "Residents are at the very heart of everything we do and this is a great opportunity for them to help us shape their services and develop new proposals.
"The People's Panel will help us focus on what matters most to residents and we are looking forward to testing out ideas, such as changes we'd like to make to services or perhaps our website, making sure that what we take forward is informed by resident's feedback.
"I hope people take this opportunity to get involved, and become part of Wakefield's first ever People's Panel."
The People's Panel is not a formal consultation process. Formal or statutory consultation will still take place as required and sit outside the remit of the People's Panel.
