Work is well underway on the £20.8 million Five Towns Leisure and Wellbeing Hub in Pontefract Park.
Due to open in early 2021, the hub will be the largest of its kind ever built in the Wakefield district. Facilities will include a 10-lane swimming pool, studio pool with moveable floor, and a splash pad water confidence area.
There will also be a gym, exercise studios, climbing activity, café and soft play area, meeting and referral rooms for community use, tennis courts, a wellbeing garden and interactive play area, a full size 3G artificial grass pitch, and car parking.
Both the studio and the main pool tanks are complete and we’ve starting filling the studio pool with water to test it.
We’ve made great progress to the cladding and timber rain screen.
The curtain walling – a big glazed screen to the front of the building starts soon. This will give a bright, opening and welcome feel to the building.
The video shows just how spectacular the facility will be with the back drop of Pontefract Park.
