Being a School Governor
Becoming a School Governor is an ideal way of giving something back to the local community. If you get on well with people, would like to learn new skills or develop existing skills and are interested and committed to helping children and young people, this may be for you.
Being a Governor involves attending meetings and making decisions about all aspects of school life. Governors are part of the leadership and management of the school. The Governing Body:
is accountable for the performance of the school
plans for the school's future
selects the Headteacher
makes decisions about the school's budget and staffing
decides how the school can encourage pupils' spiritual, moral and cultural development
makes sure that the school provides for all of its pupils, including those with additional needs
Further Information about being a school governor can be found by clicking on the “Become a School Governor” link in the “Downloads” area.
