School calendars consultation

We would like comments on our proposed school calendars for 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22.

The school calendar proposal for 2019/20 has already been reviewed by a number of Wakefield headteachers. We have, where possible, tried to make Wakefield school holiday dates fit in with neighbouring local authority (LA)school holiday dates.

Following comments from parents and school staff, we have prepared two further calendars which are being proposed. Due to the early nature or this, the holiday dates for 2020/21 and 2021/22 haven’t been fully cross-referenced with neighbouring LA school holiday dates. However, based on comments received it was felt that people within Wakefield would appreciate the dates being published sooner rather than waiting to see if they match up.

Should you wish to make any comments about any of the proposed school calendars, please complete the response form and return it to governor@wakefield.gov.uk by Friday, 2 March 2018.

What are the next steps?

Following the consultation period, a report on the proposed school terms and holiday dates will be presented to the Council’s Cabinet. The responses will be collated and fed into the report that is considered by Cabinet. The final school calendar will be published on the website once Cabinet has approved it. In the meantime, please note that school terms and holiday dates are still draft and should not be used for planning of holidays or other events.
