Common Assessment Framework
The Common Assessment Framework (CAF) is an Early Help Assessment framework for Practitioners from Universal Services.
For practitioner advice – please contact your hub - hubs are listed below
For other issues contact the Performance and Business Intelligence Team - details at the bottom of the page
CAF is used to assess children and their families to establish a family plan at the earliest opportunity.
The purpose of this plan is to help to provide children and young people and their families with the most appropriate services to safeguard and to promote wellbeing. The framework supports the identification of a ‘lead practitioner’ to act as a main point of contact for the family and the development of the family plan.
Practitioners from Universal Services can access support to use the Common Assessment Framework through the four Children First Hubs.
