17, 18 and 19 February 2017
Our annual festival of Food Drink and Rhubarb was
held on Friday 17, Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 February 2017.
The festival showcased local food and
drink providers and celebrated the district's unique tradition of rhubarb
growing and its importance to the local economy, with an exciting mix of live
cookery demonstrations, street entertainment, workshops and taster sessions.
This year award-winning celebrity chef, Jean-Christophe
Novelli, joined the line-up, along with firm festival favourite Rachel
Green - star of ITV Yorkshire’s Flying Cook and World on a Plate.
The festival showcased some of the region’s tastiest foods
and most talented chefs from across the country, with cookery demonstrations,
street food, walks and tours and a deliciously Yorkshire Market combined with
street entertainment. More than 40 stalls sold a variety of Rhubarb
produce from bread, cupcakes, sausages and pies.
There was also plenty for all the family to enjoy - including a
Family Fun Zone and a Rhubarb Trail around the city centre.
