The council has purchased the vacant former BHS store and is renovating it to move Wakefield Library and Museum to the city centre.

  • Summer 2016 - BHS store becomes vacant
  • Spring 2021 - Wakefield Council buys building
  • Autumn 2021 - Wakefield Council receives funding for scheme
  • 2022 - Design concepts developed
  • Feb 2023 - Asbestos removal work underway
