The Development Policies document provides a comprehensive set of policies which will provide the basis for determining detailed issues when dealing with planning applications.
Preparing the document has included wide ranging consultation and engagement with the public and interested parties, details and documents of the main stages are available below.
A senior government planning inspector found the Development Policies document sound after examining it throughout 2008.
The Council adopted the Development Policies document on 15 April 2009.
The document now forms part of the Local Plan, the statutory development plan for Wakefield District, and replaces many of the policies in the UDP.
