The Statement of Community Involvement explains how we will engage with people and organisations when preparing Local Plans and Supplementary Planning Documents, considering planning applications, working with communities on Neighbourhood Plans, and updating the Community Infrastructure Levy.
The Council is preparing a new Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) to reflect changes in planning legislation and to ensure we are engaging communities effectively. We are undertaking consultation on the Draft SCI to find out your views about it.
The Draft SCI is available to inspect and comment on from
Thursday 22 June to Wednesday 2 August 2017. All comments received during the consultation period will be carefully considered by the Council. The SCI will then be finalised, published and adopted by the Council.

Draft Statement of Community Involvement
is now the preferred method for making comments which we would urge you to use if possible. If you haven't made comments previously, registration is simple by visiting the consult website. This will also allow you to be kept automatically informed about the Local Plan if you provide email contact details.
Printed copies of the documents are available at our Wakefield One Customer Access Point (open Monday to Friday 8.30 to 5.00) and at libraries. If you would like to make comments on the SCI either:
